Special guest Margaret Mason (not pictured above) is a skilled and engaging presenter who is able to translate the complicated legal language of the Income Tax Act into easy-to-digest chunks. Margaret is a lawyer with more than 30 years experience advising donors, charities and their boards. She will review best practices, go over the rules restricting fundraising and dispel some of the myths and mysteries about charity/non-charity collaborations. Wendy Francis, Executive Director of the SC Community Foundation, will also give us an overview of their grants and requirements. We’ll learn:
- How to play well together ~ how we can (and cannot) collaborate
- Fundraising ~ how to do this within the requirements of the Income Tax Act
- Understand our organization’s annual reporting requirements to the CRA
