Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC)
Sunday November 5, 9am-5pm or
Sunday November 12, 9am-5pm at the Pender Harbour Community School. Instructor Andy Ross, cost is $200 and registration is required.
Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education Course (CORE)
Friday Nov 24, 6-9pm / Saturday Nov 25 9am-5pm / Sunday Nov 26 9am-3pm. Course takes place at the Pender Harbour Community School. Instructor Andy Ross, cost is $250. Please call to register.

Pickleball: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-7:30pm. Drop in fee $5.
Floor Hockey: Tuesdays 8:00-9:30pm. Drop in fee $5. For boys/men Grade 10 and over.

Sunshine Coast Emergency Preparedness
Join SCRD representative Matt Treit to receive info on the risks that face our community, how to prepare as individuals to be ready to handle these risks and how to make sure extra attention is paid to seniors safety, people with disabilities and pet safety. A brief update on how the SCRD policies/guidelines have shifted with regard to COVID-19. Come and share your questions and concerns.
Art Hour
Set aside the first Friday of each month and come play art for an hour! Different art or craft each month. Learn a bit about the craft and then make it! Join us for a creative break. Pre-register please.
Narcan Training
The Community School invites you to learn more about the Opioid crisis on the Sunshine Coast, to hear the latest statistics, get hands on training with a Narcan kit, practice CPR and learn to use an AED machine (automated external defibrillator). This 1.5 hour workshop is taught by our local Paramedics. If you are interested please call the community school to get on the waitlist for our next session (date tbd). 604.883.2826
Financial Health Series
These workshops are facilitated by Linda Cordell, financial planner and are about 2 hours each, in-person or via zoom, $20/each.
Mortgage & Debt: Learn how to strategize and prepare for a meeting with your banker/mortgage broker. What questions to ask? What are the benefits, advantages and risks?
RSP’s & TFSA’s: What should I know? Learn to expand your financial picture. Learn how best to proceed in this current market? Linda will explain the benefits of both RSP’s and TFSA’s ~ for all ages!
Understanding Retirement Savings & Income: Learn about the advantages and benefits of Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP) and Tax Free Savings Plans (TFSA); investment opportunities for whatever stage of life you are in.
Car Basics for Women
Feel comfortable and be prepared. Topics include fluid identification (what and where it goes) check ups & top ups. Tire pressure and emergency tire repair, safety in case of breakdown, what you should have in your car. Hands on and time for questions.
Floor Hockey
For boys and men Grade 10 and older, at Pender Harbour Secondary School. Have fun, get some exercise and improve your hockey! Drop in fee $3. Pre-registration required. Ask about other drop-in sports.
Pickleball
Join friends and neighbours and play Pickleball at Pender Harbour Secondary School gym, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm. Join this fast paced, fun game! Become a Pickleball Club Member (works out to be about $4/session), or just pay drop in $7. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Cooking Around the World with Chef Marcus
Our popular Chef Marcus teaches us how to prepare delicious recipes from around the world! Pender Harbour Secondary School Foods Room, 6:00-8:00pm, $45

4-Tuesdays, 1:30-3:00pm @ Harbour Learning Centre

'All Youth Matters' Inclusion Training
Friday, October 25, 10am-3pm at the Harbour Learning Centre
Develop skills and knowledge to ensure that our community, workplaces and programs are safe, inclusive and welcoming for youth. This workshop is great for facilitators, employers, educators, recreation staff, etc. Increase your empathy, identify personal bias, and learn techniques to stop discrimination. Conversation Cafe
A new program from the Community School, Conversation Cafe is a place for inclusive, open communication for parents and caregivers, where sharing ideas and different perspectives is encouraged. Different speakers visit, refreshments provided. It ran the third Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm at Euspiria Cafe in Madeira Park.

Learn how to sculpt your own beautiful roses out of Chocolate Clay, Thursday, February 7 from 6:30-8:30pm in the PHSS Foods Room. Perfect for decorating cakes, cupcakes or just giving one to your Valentine. You do not need any artistic ability to make these edible floral decorations just like the ones that Mother Nature sculpts! Cost is $25
Dog Obedience
Bring your puppy or dog and join Aurelia Cardiff to teach your four-legged friend to sit, come, stay, recall, and walk on a leash as well as efficient ways to communicate with your puppy or dog and understand its needs in a positive training atmosphere. Aurelia holds a Masters Degree in Animal Behaviour and brings over 20 years of experience to this class. Bring your new dog or review areas that need extra attention with your more mature dog. Non Profit Workshop
Introduction to Vegan Cooking
This class is for everyone, whether you want to add some plant based meals to your repertoire or are just curious about what vegans eat. There will be an intro to Veganism from a health and nutritional perspective, a smoothie demo with sampling, meal ideas and recipe handouts.
Food Skills
A free 6-week course that we offer about once a year though the Canadian Diabetes Association. Join friends and neighbours on a nutritional journey led by a trained facilitator to help you improve your knowledge around nutritious and delicious meals you can make for yourself and your family. Hosted by the Community School and the Healthy Meals Outreach Programs.
Breadmaking
A wonderful way to spend time with others and enjoy making a loaf of bread. Connect with the past and this process, which has been around for thousands of years and carried forward by our ancestors for generations. An opportunity to create more awareness and pay attention to what goes into our food and our bodies. Please bring a bag and a container.
Fake News
Believe It or Not! In this world of FAKE News, it is difficult to know what to believe! Join Teresa Eckford and staff from the Sechelt Public Library and let them help you navigate this online world of Fake News! Friday Jan 19, 2018, 12:30-2:00pm at the Madeira Park Legion.
Indian Cooking Class
Learn to make and take home delicious traditional Indian recipes! You may know our instructor Sushma from her Saturday spot at the Sechelt Farmer’s Market during the summer! Each month Sushma will show us how to make a different recipe, participants will prepare, cook, sample and take home a sampling for later! Chai Tea served in class.
