Announcing a new Executive Director position
The PHCSS Board of Directors would like to share some changes coming to the Community School.
In the near future, Madeira Park will be looking different. As many of you know, a brand-new building will be replacing our Harbour Learning Centre, with thanks to PH Rotary and our funders. We plan to have a new building in place by the Spring of 2023. Also, a new Childcare Centre is coming to MPES and the School District’s plans are also well underway. It’s a time of change, it’s a time of growth.
Moving forward, we see this as an excellent time to restructure and we are excited to announce a new position of Executive Director has been created. This is a unique career opportunity for a community-minded person to take on the leadership of a dynamic and growing non-profit organization located in the heart of Madeira Park in beautiful Pender Harbour, BC.

The Community School is the ‘hub’ of our community. We are a robust organization with a solid reputation for being community-driven and fostering meaningful partnerships. We are certified as a Living Wage Employer in BC. Our recent AGM appointed a strong Board of Directors with eight members of diverse backgrounds and representing various sectors of community. We are celebrating 25 Years in 2022 and look forward to continuing to offer excellent service and support for our amazing community as we move forward.

JOB POSTING: Executive Director
We are looking for a community-minded person with all-round management experience and excellent communication skills to take on the leadership of this dynamic and growing non-profit organization located in the heart of Madeira Park in beautiful Pender Harbour, BC. You will be responsible for the implementation, management and evaluation of all programs and services provided by the funding and program parameters of our government and community partners. The ideal candidate has:
• Post secondary education and/or extensive experience in non-profit management, social services, or related fields such as recreation, human services, health and education; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to foster partnerships with community groups, businesses & agencies
• Financial management, budgeting, grant writing, reporting & sound computer skills
• RCMP Criminal Records Check required
$30-$32 per hour, based on experience; 28-30 hours per week (flexibility of hours and work location is possible)
