We are happy to announce the completion of this Pender Harbour & Egmont Community Resource Directory. It is a comprehensive listing of information on community organizations & groups, amenities, venues and major festivals and events. It was completed in Nov 2014 and is being updated monthly as minor changes occur. Many thanks to the SCRD Area A: Economic Development for funding the "Information & Referral Pilot Project".

Pender Harbour Community School Society

ABOUT PENDER HARBOUR COMMUNITY SCHOOL

For the past 18 years, Pender Harbour Community School Society has been an integral part of the community. As a non-profit society, we provide programs and services to residents seeking lifelong learning & personal development opportunities based on the expressed needs and interests of the community. We also provide the Sunshine Coast Regional District´s Area A Community Recreation Delivery for Pender Harbour and Egmont with a variety of social, leisure and recreational programs.

We work directly in Pender Harbour High School and Madeira Park Elementary School to provide support to youth and families in a variety of ways such as the Hot Breakfast program, Homework Club, Drop-in Sports, Kinderballet, and other student support services.

Located in the heart of Madeira Park and on the grounds of the Elementary school, the Pender Harbour Community School is a vital hub for the rural communities of Pender Harbour, Egmont and adjacent islands (located at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast Regional District). We are your community resource and learning centre where everyone is welcome - seniors, youth, single parents, young families, those living in isolation and individuals facing social, learning or physical challenges.  Residents have access to computers & a wide range of educational courses, along with recreational activities and opportunities for social interaction.

Some of the programs we offer are:
  • Recreation Programs - from Art for Kids to iPads for Seniors - as well as a range of certification courses, such as First Aid, CORE, etc.
  • Student and Family Support
  • Youth Outreach Worker Program
  • Peer Parenting Program

Check the Harbour Spiel for an ongoing and up-to-date listing of upcoming programs.
